The Institute of Noetic Sciences
presents:

Science, Spirituality, & Societal Change
Dr. Marilyn Mandala Schlitz and Stephen Dinan

Sunday, 12 - 1:30 PM
Room 260

How do we create a shift in consciousness that can, in turn, create a new society? This session will reveal the latest work on the science of personal transformation and how those insights support the view that our world is transforming. For six years, the Institute of Noetic Sciences has systematically studied the essence of personal transformation by interviewing spiritual teachers from all major traditions, which is leading to a landmark book entitled Living Deeply. Dr. Schlitz will share highlights from that work. In the last two years, IONS’ Shift in Action program has interviewed more than 150 conscious leaders at the frontiers of change in spirituality, business, medicine, and social healing, exploring the essence of the changes underway collectively. Stephen Dinan will summarize some of the major insights emerging. When combined, a whole new picture of human evolution emerges that is scientifically grounded, based in spirituality and expressed in tangible actions.

Marilyn Mandala Schlitz, PhD, is Vice President for Research and Education at the Institute of Noetic Sciences in California and Senior Scientist at California Pacific Medical Center. She is co-editor of Consciousness and Healing: Integral Approaches to Mind-Body Medicine and co-author of the upcoming Living Deeply: The Art and Science of Transformation

Stephen Dinan, M.A., is the founder of Shift in Action, a successful media membership program of the Institute of Noetic Sciences; the author of Radical Spirit; the former director of the Esalen Center for Theory & Research; and a consultant on ventures in politics, non-profit, and for-profit spheres.
